Brief:
This project involved branding and design for the National Heroes’ Day celebration by the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemensos RI) for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023. Our client, the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, sought to transition from an old-style Heroes’ Day logo to a new design, which was subsequently adopted by all official institutions of the Republic of Indonesia for this national celebration.

2021 – Pahlawanku Inspirasiku (My Hero, My Inspiration): The design for 2021 focused on the theme “My Hero, My Inspiration,” featuring a logo that symbolized inspiration and the legacy of heroes. The visual elements included a stylized figure with elements that could represent flags or banners, emphasizing the inspirational aspect of heroes.

2022 – Pahlawanku Teladanku (My Hero, My Role Model): In 2022, the theme was “My Hero, My Role Model,” with a design that incorporated a shield-like emblem, suggesting protection, guidance, and the exemplary nature of heroes. This theme aimed to highlight heroes as role models for society.

2023: The design for 2023 introduced a new logo with a more abstract and modern look, symbolizing the spirit of heroes for the future of the nation in fighting poverty and ignorance. The theme for this year was “Semangat Pahlawan Untuk Masa Depan Bangsa Dalam Memerangi Kemiskinan Dan Kebodohan” (The Spirit of Heroes for the Future of the Nation in Fighting Poverty and Ignorance), focusing on the ongoing legacy of heroes in addressing contemporary societal challenges.
Result:
The project was successful in creating a fresh identity for National Heroes’ Day that was well-received by the public and official institutions throughout Indonesia. The transition from the old to the new style was well-accepted, as evidenced by the adoption of these designs for the national celebration. Each year’s theme and design effectively communicated the evolving message of heroism, from inspiration to role modeling, and finally to tackling current issues, showcasing the dynamic role of heroes in Indonesian society.
